ABOUT THIS COURSE

This course teaches to lead without abusing privilege, to amplify their influence on others, and what leadership style to use, and how to empower others.

Privilege is a covert form of prejudice that has often been overlooked. It shields us from understanding the challenges faced by those who are less fortunate and lack access to the resources we take for granted.

It is imperative to recognize how our own privilege impacts those around us and to actively work towards dismantling systems that perpetuate inequality.

Upon completing this course, you will have the ability to:

Dr Tan Lai Yong
Associate Professor, NUS

Assoc Prof Tan Lai Yong is a medical doctor by training. He graduated from NUS in 1985. In 1996, he and his family relocated to Yunnan, China, where he was involved in poverty alleviation, community development, and training of village health workers. On returning, Dr Tan was awarded a scholarship to do the Masters in Public Admin at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy. He has also led about 10 NUS STEER trips to places like Botswana, China, India, and Myanmar.
